Pneumology

In collaboration with:

Respiratory diseases are among the leading causes of death worldwide. Lung infections (especially pneumonia and tuberculosis), lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) together accounted for more than 10 million deaths worldwide.

One limitation to treatment lies in diagnosis: respiratory diseases are often diagnosed at an advanced stage. With advances in research technologies (such as imaging and biomarkers), more patients will benefit from earlier diagnosis and management of the disease.

The Science Library Project of the Fondazione Internazionale Menarini is an exciting means of raising awareness of respiratory diseases and improving knowledge of the latest advances in basic science and clinical research to improve the management of respiratory patients and make early diagnoses.
